LIVERPOOL CAPITAL of CULTURE 2008Liverpool's heritage is unrivalled, its prominence in the fields of art, literature and music is long documented and its architectural make-up includes buildings that are famous across the world. With so much in its favour, it is hardly surprising that Liverpool is European Capital of Culture for 2008. The strapline for Liverpool's bid campaign, 'The World in One City' - is reflected in the city's current cultural offerings such as Africa Oye, Brouhaha and Milap Indian Festival. It will also be used as a theme for future events already being planned. "We have chosen this line because it embodies, in many ways, why Liverpool should win the bid," continues Sir Bob Scott. "A short trip through Liverpool provides a great snapshot of the world through our heritage, buildings and most importantly our people. We have it all in Liverpool and we should be very, very proud to showcase this to the rest of Europe." Further information
